DOT Repair Mix - concrete repair material


FREEZER FLOOR REPAIR with D.O.T. REPAIR MIX

SUMMARY INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Remove ice and debris
2. Minimum 5” repair thickness
3. Edges should be vertical
4. Sound concrete with a good profile
5. Clean concrete
6. Tent and heat the area, if allowed
7. Keep materials and mixer in warm area
8. Heat the water
9. Mix per instructions on product
10. Press material firmly into place
11. Finish quickly
12. Wet cure and cover with insulating blanket for at least 3 hours
13. Clean equipment and surrounding area immediately

FULL INSTRUCTIONS:
SURFACE PREPARATION:
1. Remove concrete that that all material placed will be at least 5” thick.
2. Concrete must be free of materials such as food, paint, oil, curing compound, bond breaker, or any material that will inhibit bonding. Mechanically remove loose, unsound, contaminated concrete.
3. The perimeter of the area to be repaired shall be sawcut or chipped perpendicular to the surface to a minimum depth of 5 inches. Do NOT cut or damage reinforcing steel.
4. Clean reinforcing steel by sandblasting or other mechanical means to achieve a white metal finish.
5. Thoroughly clean extraneous material such as dirt, loose chips, and dust from concrete surface. If compressed air is used, it shall be free of oil.
6. If permitted, tent the area and use electric heaters to heat the concrete substrate.

MIXING:
1. Organize personnel and equipment before mixing.
2. Keep materials in a warm area and warm them if possible.
3. Heat the water.
4. Use one packet of accelerator (FAST) per bag of material.
5. See product package for amount of water to use.
6. Mix materials in a warm area.
7. Add water and FAST to the mixing container. While mixing with a power driven mechanical mixer, such as a mortar mixer or a drill mounted mixer, add repair material.
8. Use a large mixer to maximize the batch size and to minimize the number of batches.
9. Mix for 1 to 3 minutes to achieve a uniform, lump-free consistency.
10. Do NOT re-temper.

PLACEMENT:
1. Place repair material immediately after mixing at full depth not in lifts.
2. Work the mixed repair material firmly into all application surfaces to achieve good bond. Consolidate to remove air voids.
3. Do NOT wait for bleed water. Apply final finish as soon as possible.

CURING:
1. Begin water cure and place insulating blankets immediately and maintain for at least 3 hours.

CLEAN UP:
1. Maintain a clean, orderly work area.
2. Clean excess material from surrounding areas and equipment immediately.
3. Protect adjacent surfaces that may be damaged by cement mixture with drop cloths, waterproof paper, or other means to maintain surfaces free of material splashes, water, and debris.
