Concrete Leveler™ Primer (CLP)

Concrete Leveler™ Primer (CLP): Acrylic-Based Primer

Use Concrete Leveler™ Primer (CLP) to improve the adhesion of Concrete Leveler™ to properly prepared concrete.  CLP also seals porous concrete surfaces to prevent pinholes and bubbles from forming in the finished surface.  One gallon covers 200-400 square feet and one quart covers 50-100 square feet.  For use with Concrete Leveler™: Quick-Setting, Self-Leveling Floor Underlayment

Uses

Use for improving bond strength and adhesion.  Use to seal porous concrete to prevent pinholes and bubbles.

FAQs

Q: What is Rapid Set Concrete Leveler Primer and what can it be used for?
A: Concrete Leveler Primer is a ready to use primer that improves the adhesion of self-leveling products and acts to seal porous surfaces to prevent pin holes from forming in the finished surface.

Q: How do I prepare the substrate prior to applying Concrete Leveler Primer?
A: Mechanically prepare the substrate by shot-blasting and/or diamond grinding to achieve ICRI Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) 3. The substrate must be clean, sound, have an absorptive surface and be free of oil, concrete sealers, or any other material that may inhibit bond. Remove all shot, dirt and other debris.

Q: Do I need to dilute Concrete Leveler Primer?
A: No. In most cases no dilution is necessary. For excessively porous or absorbent concrete surfaces, multiple coats may be necessary. Dilute the first coat with 1 parts water to 1 part primer. Wait until dry, then prime normally without diluting.

Q: How many coats are required?
A: It depends on the substrate. If the primer dries in less than 20 minutes, that is an indicator that the substrate is excessively porous. Additional coats may be added as soon as the previous coat is dry. Add additional coats until the primer stays wet for at least 20 minutes.

Q: How do I apply Concrete Leveler Primer?
A: Apply primer to the substrate and work into the surface with a soft-bristle push broom. Spread evenly to thoroughly coat the surface and avoid puddling.

Q: What is the coverage of Concrete Leveler Primer?
A: The coverage is dependent on the surface profile and absorption rate of the concrete. In most cases, 1 gallon of Concrete Leveler Primer will cover 200 – 400 ft2

Q: How soon can I apply Rapid Set products over Concrete Leveler Primer?
A: Allow the final coat of Concrete Leveler Primer to dry for a minimum of 3 hours and maximum of 24 hours and confirm the primer is completely dry and there are no puddles prior to applying Rapid Set products.
