SET Control® and FLOW Control®

When you need more time to place and finish your concrete, mortar and grout materials, use SET Control® with Rapid Set® cement products. More time is often needed when your project involves large or intricate placements (more than 1 cubic foot) of grout, mortar or concrete. And in warm weather when cement naturally sets faster, SET Control slows down the hardening of the cement.

When you need to increase the fluidity of your mixture, add FLOW Control® to Rapid Set® cement products. Using FLOW Control as a replacement for mixing water increases the strength and reduces the shrinkage of your mixture. With FLOW Control, the same working consistency (or slump) may be produced with approximately 20 to 40 percent less mixing water.

FAQs

SET Control®

Q: What is SET Control®?
A: It is an additive used to slow the setting time of Rapid Set® products which allows you more time to place and finish your mix. Ideal for warm weather or larger placement applications.

Q: How much is in a packet?
A: Each packet contains 25 grams (.88 ounces).

Q: How much do I use?
A: At moderate 70° degree temperatures, 1 packet per 55 to 60 lb. bag of Rapid Set® product will give you an additional 20 minutes working time. Add up to 4 packets per bag or as little as your application requires.

Q: How do I add it to my mix?
A: Adding it to your mix water before adding the Rapid Set® material will give you better distribution in your mix.

Q: Can I use it with other additives?
A: It can be used in conjunction with other Rapid Set® Concrete Pharmacy® items, various colors, and approved additives.

Q: Can I add it to other portland cement products?
A: Blending with other products may give unpredictable results and is not recommended.

FLOW Control®

Q: What is FLOW Control®?
A: It is an additive that increases the fluidity of your mix. It makes your mix more flowable without the addition of more water. The reduced mix water also increases the strength of your mix.

Q: How much is in a packet?
A: Each packet contains 60 grams (2.12 ounces).

Q: How much do I need to use?
A: 1 to 2 packets per 55 to 60 lb. bag of Rapid Set® product will produce a very fluid almost self-leveling “wet” mix. Add up to 4 packets per bag.

Q: How do I add it to my mix?
A: In 70° degree or warmer applications, add the FLOW Control to your mix water first. In colder conditions, add the Flow Control to your mixture once you have combined your Rapid Set material and mix water.

Q: Can I use it with other additives?
A: It can be used in conjunction with other Rapid Set® Concrete Pharmacy® items or certain approved additives.

Q: Can I add it to other portland cement products?
A: Blending with other hydraulic cement products will increase fluidity, but a trial batch is always recommended to fine-tune your dosage and mix procedure.
